Esther Mafouta (she/her)
Esther is a rising sophomore at Columbia University and is a co-founder of CUSD Against Racism. She is passionate about civil rights and racial justice and plans on majoring in Political Science and pursuing a career in jurisprudence.

Stephanie Hu (she/her)
Stephanie, a highschool junior from Southern California, is a Co-Founder of CUSD Against Racism. Her identity as a Chinese American has pushed her to passionately uplift marginalized voices into intersectional activism. Stephanie is also the Founder/Executive Director of Dear Asian Youth, a student-led organization centered around Asian activism with over 150 chapters across the globe. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry, discovering new coffee shops, and listening to jazz and R&B!

Olivia Fu (she/her)
Olivia is one of the co-founders of CUSD Against Racism. She graduated from San Juan Hills High School in 2018 and is currently a Junior at Stanford University majoring in Urban Studies and on the pre-med track. In her free time, Olivia likes binge-reading Sci-fi and YA fiction, coaching lacrosse, and figure skating. “Only justice will bring peace”- Avatar Kyoshi

Solei Sarmiento (she/her)
Solei is a second year at UC Berkeley majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Global Poverty and Practice. She is particularly interested in how the brain influences political decision-making and social structuring and devotes much of her energy towards community organizing.

SCHS Lead and Core Organizer
Riya Khetarpal
Riya is currently a senior at San Clemente High School, and is a Core Organizer for CUSD Against Racism as well as one of the Task Force Leads and co-founders of SCHS Against Racism. Riya is passionate about advocacy for inclusivity in all respects, through her involvement in several social justice initiatives as well as by combatting ableism on her campus through Triton Sparkle, a cheer team she co-founded that includes students with and without disabilities. Riya is planning on entering college next year as an intended mathematics major, where she hopes to continue this important work with this amazing team of women!

SCHS Lead and Core Organizer
Jasel Steinmetz (she/her)
Jasel is a senior at San Clemente High School, and is a Core Organizer for CUSD Against Racism as well as one of the task force leads and co-founders of SCHS Against Racism. Jasel is very passionate about social justice and equity on a global level, and has dedicated her time to forming transnational connections by visiting migrant detainees isolated in detention centers and through International Student Outreach, a club she heads on campus that supports an orphanage in Tijuana, teaches English to adults in Myanmar, and provides medical clinics to rural communities in Vietnam. Jasel is extremely excited to be entering college next year as a political science major! She hopes to become a civil rights attorney, a career that will enable her to continue this important work advocating for equity.

Core Organizer
Tess Mathes (she/her)
Tess is a second year at UC Irvine and is a Core-Organizer for CUSD Against Racism. Tess is also a student-athlete majoring in Biological Sciences with a Pre-Medical focus which translates into her passion for social justice, advocating for equity within the medical field and in sports. In the future, she aims to become a medical professional that can aide in the reduction of health disparities, specially amongst POC.

SJHHS Lead
Sandhya Ganesan (she/her)
Sandhya is a junior at San Juan Hills High School where she is a part of The Express Newspaper, BRIDGES, the on-site cultural proficiency task force, and the Task Force Lead of San Juan Hills Against Racism. In her free time, she loves writing, reading and watching movies. Sandhya is inspired by all the work CUSD Against Racism and their task forces have done, and is excited to be a part of it!

Sarina Iyer (she/her)
Sarina is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and is the Task Force Lead of San Juan Hills Against Racism along with a Core Organizer of CUSD Against Racism. In her free time, she participates in her school’s proficiency task force. She also enjoys being outdoors (hiking, paddle boarding, etc), playing guitar, and practicing Indian Dance. She loves being part of CUSDAR and is super excited to help participate in their future events!
